Driveway FAQs
How much does a new driveway cost?
The cost of a new driveway depends on the size, type of surfacing, and any groundworks required. As a rough guide for a standard-sized driveway in West Yorkshire: resin-bound starts from around £60–£80 per sqm, block paving from £50–£100 per sqm, and tarmac from £40–£60 per sqm. We provide detailed, itemised quotes so you can make an informed decision.
What type of driveway is best for my property?
The best driveway depends on your budget, aesthetic preferences, and practical requirements. Resin-bound driveways offer a modern, permeable finish. Block paving provides a classic, versatile look. Tarmac is cost-effective and durable. Imprinted concrete gives you the look of natural materials at a lower cost. We’ll discuss the options with you during your free consultation and help you choose the best solution.
Do resin driveways need planning permission?
In most cases, no – especially if the surface is permeable, which resin-bound driveways are. However, if your driveway exceeds 5 square metres and the surface is impermeable, planning permission may be required. If your property is listed or in a conservation area, additional permissions may apply. We’ll advise you on any planning requirements as part of our quoting process.
How long does a driveway installation take?
Most residential driveway installations take between 3–5 days depending on the size and type of surfacing. Resin-bound driveways can often be completed in 2–3 days. Larger or more complex projects may take a week or more. We’ll give you a clear timeline before work begins.
How long will my new driveway last?
With proper installation and reasonable care, most driveways last 15–25+ years. Resin-bound and block paving driveways are particularly long-lasting. The key is a good sub-base – which is why we never cut corners on groundworks preparation.
Can you widen or extend my existing driveway?
Yes. We regularly extend and widen driveways to accommodate additional vehicles or improve access. We can match existing materials or create a complementary contrast – whatever works best for your property.
Patio FAQs
How much does a new patio cost?
Patio costs vary depending on size, materials, and any preparation work needed. Indian sandstone patios typically start from around £60–£90 per sqm, porcelain paving from £80–£120 per sqm, and block paving from £50–£80 per sqm. We’ll provide a clear, detailed quote for your specific project.
What’s the best paving material for a patio?
Indian sandstone is the most popular choice for its natural beauty and value. Porcelain paving is ideal if you want a modern, ultra-low-maintenance finish. Natural stone like York stone or limestone offers a traditional, characterful look. We’ll help you choose the right material based on your style preferences, usage, and budget.
Will my patio need a drainage plan?
Yes – proper drainage is essential. We lay every patio with a slight fall to direct rainwater away from your property and towards drainage points. For larger areas, we may recommend channel drains or soakaways to manage water effectively.
How do I maintain my new patio?
Most patios need very little maintenance. An occasional sweep and an annual pressure wash will keep them looking great. We can advise on the best sealants for your chosen material to help prevent staining and algae growth.
Landscaping & Fencing FAQs
Can you design my garden for me?
Yes. While we’re not garden designers in the traditional sense, we have extensive experience creating beautiful, practical outdoor spaces. We’ll listen to your ideas, offer suggestions based on what works best for your property and budget, and bring your vision to life.
What fencing is most durable?
Closeboard fencing is the most durable timber option, as it’s built on-site with individual boards that can be replaced individually if needed. For ultimate longevity with zero maintenance, composite fencing is an excellent choice. We’ll help you choose the right fencing for your needs and budget.
Do you remove old fencing and garden waste?
Yes. All old materials, waste, and debris are removed from your property as part of the job. We leave every site clean and tidy – it’s part of our commitment to a professional service.
How long does a landscaping project take?
Timescales depend on the scope of work. A straightforward fencing job might take 1–2 days. A full garden transformation with patio, landscaping, and fencing could take 1–3 weeks. We’ll give you a clear timeline upfront so you can plan accordingly.
